NURTURING YOUNG MINDS: HAVEN’S TODDLER PROGRAMME

A stimulating and nurturing daycare programme designed to encourage exploration, independence, and early learning in toddlers.

Toddler Care
(18 - 36 months)

Unleash your little one’s potential with our engaging toddler learning programmes! We ignite curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning with hands-on exploration and joyful discovery. Here’s more about our nurturing and developmentally rich Playgroup and Pre-Nursery programmes designed to support your toddler’s crucial early years.

Playgroup (18-24 Months): Discover & Grow Together

Is your little explorer ready? Our Playgroup (PG) programme offers a playful, stimulating environment for discovery and growth. Through interactive storytelling, music, and games, we introduce early literacy naturally. We also focus on listening skills, social interaction, and first friendships in a safe, supportive setting.

Pre-Nursery (2-3 Years Old): Building Foundations for the Future

As your child grows, so does their thirst for knowledge. Our Pre-Nursery (N1) programme builds on the Playground foundation, preparing them for the next chapter. We nurture a love for letters and sounds through engaging activities, introducing key concepts for future success. Our educators create a warm, encouraging atmosphere where children develop confidence, independence, and social skills, setting them up for preschool.

Why Choose Haven Schoolhouse Toddler Care

At Haven Schoolhouse, we understand that choosing the right toddler daycare is a pivotal decision. We provide a robust foundation for your child’s development with:

Our toddler-friendly, baby-proofed spaces include vibrant indoor and outdoor play areas that are designed to stimulate exploration, encourage physical activity, and foster social interaction, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene.

We also strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) for safe management measures. Our centres undergo daily and weekly deep cleaning and sanitisation to ensure a clean and safe environment for all.

We also conduct daily health checks three times per day: upon arrival, after lunch, and after nap time. This includes temperature checks, visual inspections for signs of illness, and verbal inquiries about any discomfort. Our staff are also trained to adhere to strict health protocols to minimise the spread of illness.

Our Playgroup and Pre-Nursery educators are highly qualified and possess the expertise to nurture and guide young learners. Our rigorous hiring process ensures that only the most passionate and skilled educators are on our team and dedicated to your child’s development.

We also maintain low teacher-to-child ratios for personalised attention: 1:8 for Playgroup classes and 1:12 for Pre-Nursery classes, ensuring each child receives the individualised support they need to thrive.

Our Playgroup and Pre-Nursery curriculum, aligned with ECDA’s Early Years Development Framework and Nurturing Early Learners Framework, provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our toddler daycare programmes support cognitive, language, and social development through structured and free play.

We incorporate thematic learning, hands-on exploration, and guided activities to stimulate curiosity and foster a love of learning. This curriculum is integral to our school’s Growth & Enabling Mindset framework, driven by our core values of collaboration, accountability, respect, and empowerment.

We understand the importance of partnership in your child’s early education and, therefore, maintain open and consistent communication with parents. We also hold twice-yearly meetings to discuss performance and set goals. If needed, parents can also schedule appointments with their child’s teacher during office hours for in-depth discussions.

For daily communication, our school communication app, MERCU Taidii, is available for parents to send and receive messages directly with their child’s teacher, view photos of their child’s daily activities and school events, and access important announcements from us. Parents can also view their child’s e-portfolio and progress reports on the app.

A Foundation for Future Success

Recognising the significant developmental milestones achieved during this period, we provide a stimulating environment that encourages exploration and learning. Our carefully designed Playgroup and Pre-Nursery programmes help children build strong cognitive, social-emotional, and early academic skills. From mastering first steps and words to developing crucial problem-solving abilities, our programmes are tailored to support each child’s unique pace.

Through guided teaching sessions and engaging activities, such as storytelling sessions, painting, and drawing, we nurture confidence and school readiness. This means that parents can rest assured that our comprehensive approach to toddler daycare supports their child’s growth and development, preparing them for a successful transition to nursery school, kindergarten, and beyond.

Is the food prepared halal-certified?

Will special arrangements be made if my child has allergies or special dietary arrangements?

Yes, we can. Please inform your child’s teacher of any specific dietary requirements or allergies. We will ensure that their meals are prepared accordingly.

What are the precautionary measures taken to ensure the centres are clean and safe for our children?

Haven Schoolhouse prioritises the health and safety of your child. We strictly adhere to ECDA and MOH guidelines for safe management measures. Our centres undergo daily and weekly deep cleaning and sanitisation to ensure a clean and safe environment for all.

How often are health checks conducted on the children daily?

Children’s health is a top priority at Haven Schoolhouse. We conduct daily health checks three times per day: upon arrival, after lunch, and after nap time. This includes temperature checks, visual inspections for signs of illness, and verbal inquiries about any discomfort.

What does the centre do when there are children with runny nose, cough and other infectious diseases?

If your child exhibits symptoms of illness, such as fever, cough, flu, ulcers, or rashes, they will be sent home immediately for their safety and the well-being of others. We encourage parents to keep sick children at home and seek medical advice. Our staff adhere to strict health protocols to minimise the spread of illness.

How do I communicate with my child’s teacher?

You can easily connect with your child’s teacher through our school communication app, MERCU Taidii. Using this app, you can:

  • Send and receive messages directly with your child’s teacher.
  • View photos of your child’s daily activities and school events.
  • Access important announcements from the principal and school administration.
  • View your child’s e-portfolio and progress reports.

For more in-depth discussions, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher during office hours.

How will I be informed about my child’s progress?

We prioritise open communication and transparency regarding your child’s academic and social development. Hence, as part of our toddler daycare programme, parents will receive regular updates through:

  • Individual e-portfolios: A digital platform showcasing your child’s work and achievements.
  • Parent-Teacher Meetings: Twice-yearly meetings to discuss your child’s performance and set goals.
  • Tea sessions (for new parents): Informal gatherings to introduce you to the school community.
  • Ad hoc meetings: As needed, you can schedule meetings with your child’s teachers for specific concerns or questions.

Should I accompany my child to school on the first day?

While we encourage parental presence on the first day, it depends on your child’s age and comfort level. For younger children at Pre-Nursery and Playgroup levels, your presence can be reassuring. However, once your child starts interacting with others, it is often beneficial to leave and allow them to settle independently. Your continued presence might prolong separation anxiety.

Please note: Specific arrangements may vary by centre due to COVID-19 regulations and local guidelines. We recommend contacting your preferred centre directly for more information.

What should I do if my child refuses to attend the centre, or has fears and nightmares about going there?

It is common for children to experience anxiety when transitioning to a new environment. Here are some strategies to help your child adjust to our toddler daycare programme:

  • Positive Reinforcement: Emphasise the fun activities and new friends your child will encounter at the centre.
  • Open Communication: Discuss your child’s concerns with their teacher and develop a plan together.
  • Gradual Adjustment: Allow your child time to adjust to the new routine.
  • Utilise the mobile app: Stay connected with the teacher for regular updates and support.
